Content Policy

Shotloom is built for cinematic storytelling. Almost everything you'd find in a real film, drama, violence, dark themes, moral complexity, is fair game. A small set of content is off-limits for legal and ethical reasons. Here's exactly where the line is.

Always allowed

Tier 3

These are the subjects of cinema. You can write prompts involving any of these themes without restriction. If it could appear in a film, TV show, or published novel, it's almost certainly fine here.

✓Crime dramas, heists, thrillers

✓Horror, supernatural, and dark fantasy

✓Villain characters and morally complex narratives

✓Historical events, including atrocities, for educational or dramatic purposes

✓Sci-fi and fantasy violence

✓Romantic and intimate content between adults (non-explicit)

✓Alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drug use in narrative contexts

✓Political and social commentary

✓Death, grief, and loss

✓Addiction, self-harm, abuse as narrative elements

✓Dark psychological themes, manipulation, coercion in fiction

Requires cinematic framing

Tier 2

These subjects are allowed when framed as storytelling. They're blocked when the prompt is primarily seeking harmful real-world content dressed in fictional language. Prompts here are usually fine but may be flagged for a quick review, or may fail if the AI safety filter is uncertain about the intent. If your generation fails, try adding clearer narrative context, e.g. "in a film scene" or "for a documentary".

Explicit drug synthesis

A character who uses drugs in a story: fine. A prompt embedding actual synthesis instructions: blocked.

Defamatory real-person scenarios

Real public figures in fictional scenarios that are clearly defamatory, placing them in crimes they didn't commit, etc.

Suicide or self-harm depicted outside a clear dramatic context

Content involving minors in any potentially ambiguous situation

Imagery that could be mistaken for harmful instructions

Tier 1

These are absolute restrictions. No narrative framing or creative context changes this. Prompts in this category are blocked immediately and no credits are charged. Repeated violations may result in account suspension.

Sexual content involving minors, in any form

Any sexual or suggestive content involving minors. Zero tolerance, no exceptions.

Non-consensual sexual acts presented approvingly

Non-consensual intimate imagery

Real or fabricated explicit content of identifiable real people without consent.

Step-by-step instructions for weapons, explosives, or drug synthesis

Prompts that embed real instructions for building explosives, chemical weapons, or bioweapons inside a creative framing.

Content designed to harass, threaten, or defame a specific real person

Content designed to harm, defame, or harass a specific private person.

Hate speech targeting people based on race, religion, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity

Content calling for violence against groups based on race, religion, gender, nationality, or sexuality.

Graphic gore with no narrative purpose (torture porn, snuff)

Gratuitous descriptions of bodily harm with no cinematic purpose. War wounds in a war film: fine. Extended torture for shock value: blocked.

How to rephrase a blocked prompt

Most blocks happen because a prompt is too literal. Cinematic language almost always gets you what you need.

Story tension, not actual instructions

When a generation is blocked

Credits are refunded instantly

If your generation is blocked, by our safety layer or by Google's AI, your credits are returned to your account automatically. You're never charged for a failed generation.

You see a plain-English reason

We translate technical error codes into human language. You'll know whether it was a content policy issue, a temporary service problem, or something you can fix by rephrasing.

You can retry immediately

Rephrase and try again. Most policy blocks are resolved with a single change in how the scene is described.

Shotloom uses Google's Veo and Imagen models. Google's own safety filters operate at the provider level and apply independently of our policy. Some generations may be blocked by Google's systems even if they pass Shotloom's checks. This is outside our control. Credits are still refunded in full.
